Tuesday, October 17, 2006 ::: WE'VE BEEN EXPECTING YOU Remember not long ago I posted several pictures showing Cathay Pacific's all new First, Business and Economy classes, that looks 'pretty neat' but probably not 'phenomenal'? Guess who's announcing brand new First, Business and Economy class products now? You know it has to be Singapore Airlines. First Business Economy And just in case you'd like to see how our very own airline fare in this competition, I'll post these pictures again. First Business Economy Sorry, these are the largest pictures I get from their website. Just a few things from me: 1. I hope Cathay's building a page to promote their new products. Even the largest bed in the sky can't look so large in a pic sized not much bigger than your MSN profile pic. 2. Both airlines have opted a totally different color scheme. For SQ, they've been using the same amber color for their current First Class, while livelier colors of purple and blue are currently being used for Business and Economy. However apparently they're now incorporating an ambience similar to their First product to Business and Economy. For CX, I think they're keeping the same color tones - a darker grey for First, and a blue/green tone for Business and Economy. I don't know if it's due to the poor quality of CX's photos, but I personally think SQ's colors are more cozy and easier on the eyes. CX's blue almost looks cheap on their Business class seat. But again it can only be the real color not showing up. 3. They're both claiming their own First and Business beds the largest in the sky. I've compared the dimensions for First Class, they should be similar. However for Business, SQ's bed looks roomier than CX's. And sorry, economy is still the same tuna class no matter which airline you fly. 4. Is SQ abandoning the 'Raffles Class' name for its Business product? 5. CX's 'fixed seast design' sounds good, but SQ's in seat power is surely a nice touch. So all in all, it's nice to see both airlines upgrading their already very good inflight products, especially for economy class - at least they're adding something. Yet I'm sorry to say that right now the pictures on SQ's website look so much nicer and hopefully a new page is in the works for Cathay. ::: posted by Wings at 10/17/2006 09:40:00 AM
